LGBTQ+ EQUALITY CAUCUS CHAIRS ENDORSE JILL TOKUDA FOR CONGRESS

Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – The two chairs of the Hawaiʻi State Legislature’s LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, Senator Chris Lee and Representative Adrian Tam, announced today their endorsement of Jill Tokuda for Hawaiʻi’s Second Congressional District.

The caucus, which was formed in January 2022, focuses on increasing access to health care, representation, and equal employment opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community through legislation and policy.

In a joint statement, both Senator Lee and Representative Tam believe that Tokuda’s demonstrated record of leadership in fighting for equality will serve her well as Hawaiʻi’s next member of Congress.

“No candidate in this race for Congress has done more for the LGBTQ+ community in Hawaiʻi than Jill Tokuda. She’s been a fighter for our community on issues relating to women’s reproductive rights, marriage equality, and more. Hawaiʻi needs a leader with experience in Washington, and we are proud to endorse her candidacy.”

To date, the Tokuda campaign has received the endorsement and support of EMILY’s List, Elect Democratic Women, the Hawaiʻi State AFL – CIO, the Hawaiʻi Government Employees Association (HGEA), Ironworkers Union Local 625, Operating Engineers Local 3, IBEW Local 1186 and Pono Hawaiʻi Initiative.

In addition, Jill has also received the endorsements of U.S. Senator Mazie K. Hirono, Assistant Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Katherine Clark, Congresswoman Judy Chu, Congresswoman Lois Frankel and Congressman Joe Neguse.
